The importance of Goal Setting: –
Make your goals CLEAR!
When you are starting out for your quest for that dream body of yours, make sure you establish clear goals.
Instead of setting yourself a goal of losing weight, the goal should be you want to lose 7lb by August 2014.
Instead of wanting to get ‘jacked’, set the goal of adding 10lb of muscle by December 2014.
You want stronger legs? You mean you want to add 20kg to your 1 rep max of squats by September 2014.
Clear goals give you a target to aim for.
Make your goals CHALLENGING!
If your goals are challenging, you will be more determined to achieve them. Start with your easiest goals first, and proceed on to the more challenging goals after successfully achieving your previous ones.
COMMIT to your goals!
Your daily behaviours directly affect your goals. If you say you want to be slimmer yet you are choosing to eat at a couple of tubs of Ben & Jerry’s Fish Food every other day then your behaviours are not reflecting your goals.
If you say you want to get more muscular this year yet spend more time drinking and playing your PS4 then you need to change your goals or behaviours. You decide!
You ARE going to FAIL or hit PLATEAUS!
Expect to hit little speed bumps on your fitness/health journey along the way. Don’t let this stop you. When these things happen, make small adjustments to overcome them rather than a complete overhaul. Its usually enough to get things going again!
Now get goal setting!!
