How time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve been so busy with work and seeing friends, but I still look forward to my evening workout sessions in the gym with Tony. I can’t believe I’m already entering my last week of my personalised 8 week programme that I was fortunate enough to win with Top Conditioning Personal Training. It’s been such a great, positive experience and I’ve never been fitter or stronger in all of my adult life.
The scales haven’t shifted as quickly as I would have liked (I’m impatient like that!), 5lbs this month, but I do know there IS a lot less of me now than there was when I first started the programme. Clothes are loose and I’m now back in things I was wearing over 4yrs ago – but they fit soooo much better than they did then. It’s like discovering a whole new wardrobe! It just shows that the scales aren’t the only factor to consider when on a weight loss journey.
With Tony’s guidance, I have dropped my daily calories to boost my weight loss. I’ve also discovered, through trial and error, that doubling my protein shake at breakfast, has virtually eliminated any hunger pangs- or the ‘reached for’ snacks late afternoon. It’s the little tweaks that seem to make the biggest difference. I just had to find what works for me.
I’m still socialising as much as I ever have, I just now make allowances in my day to compensate for this. I haven’t stopped eating out, I just make a more informed choice and will swap the chips for new potatoes to allow me freedom to have a dessert. On a recent ‘girls night in’ my lovely friends changed from a pizza night to a takeaway more suitable to me, so they tucked into fish and chips whilst I had a chicken shish kebab with salad (I even measured out my own mayo to take with me).
Our twice weekly sessions in the gym have also been altered slightly to ensure I keep pushing myself and making progress. One session is made up of paired exercises that I repeat in 3 sets before moving on to the next pair. The second session is a circuit of several different exercises, that I repeat three times. (STILL not a fan of press-ups, but I’m getting there!) The music in the gym is usually turned up quite loud by the third set, as I’ve found it’s great for helping me though and completing the final set. Overall, I’m feeling good about the gym sessions as I like pushing myself to complete those last few reps, I am buzzing post-workouts and I’m discovering muscles I never knew I had!
I’m not sure what Tony has in store for me in our final two gym sessions, but I know he’ll be as supportive as ever and we’ll be aiming to finish on a high 🙂
