Sam’s Personal Training Story Week 5

Well I’m over halfway through my 8 weeks with Tony and I’m really pleased with my progress so far. It’s not showing on the scales too much, but it’s definitely showing in the gym and my body is completely changing shape. I actually have a waist! Who knew? As hard as it is to accept compliments from people about your body sometimes, it’s nice to have that warm, glowy feeling when people compliment you on the changes they are noticing. The hard work IS paying off 🙂

The gym sessions have kept me motivated and I’ve never felt so good after working out before. I leave the sessions buzzing! With Tony’s expertise, he plans my sessions so that my reps and weights are increased to push my body that little bit further each time. I still hate press-ups, but I’m persevering! I’ve had a couple of blips with an ongoing back issue, but Tony has been brilliant in adapting session exercises and also spending time researching how to help my back. I’m now the proud owner of a foam roller and a tennis ball. But it’s working!

The contents of my fridge and cupboards have completely transformed during this process. I’m cooking from fresh most days and I’m eating more fruit and veg than ever before. I’m now thinking about what compromises I can make to still have the treats I want to stay within my calories. Tony has been with me every step of the way and given advice about options to help my decision making.

This weekend highlighted that some of my old eating patterns are still there. Emotional eating will always rear it’s head because a) I’m female with hormones and b) life likes to pull the rug from under you every now and then! The compulsion to consume my body weight in cakes, biscuits, sweets and pastries was my first go to. I texted Tony and he suggested I used delaying tactics. (I’m a pro when it comes to this, ask my family and work colleagues) So I decided to focus my attention elsewhere, namely my slow cooker. I distracted my sugar-focused brain, into something more productive and concocted a veggie casserole for this week’s lunches. It worked-ish. I still wanted the calorie-laden naughties, just not in the vast quantities I initially did.  I came in on target for calories, so I consider that a mini-win.

So I’m now left with three weeks left of this step in my journey, albeit a little apprehensive about what will happen after this phase ends, but looking forward to what treats Tony has in store for me in our remaining sessions!!

Sam.

Can i just say how proud I am of Sam!! You go girl!
