Assessing your emotional wellbeing/mental health/happiness (whatever you choose to call it) BEFORE you think about dieting is a must. If you aren’t happy now, at this dress size and scale weight, you won’t be happy when you get to your goal.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that losing weight or inches will transform your happiness. It doesn’t work that way.
If you pin your hopes of a happy life on the results of a diet, you are in for a rough ride.
Instead, you need to be happy FIRST and then tackle your nutrition and exercise. Has every diet or weight loss plan you’ve tried so far in your life brought you lasting happiness? When you were at your slimmest and fittest, did life still have highs and lows?
The label in your clothing and the number on your scale is only part of the picture. Yes, you’ll be healthier and fitter if you reach your ideal weight. But true happiness is something much deeper.
Sort that first and you’ll have the emotional tools to deal with the ups and downs of dieting – and the journey will be more pleasant for you and everyone around you, too!
